About me

CURRENTLY WORKING ONLINE ONLY

I am trained as an integrative therapist with a particular interest in the existential approach. I have a multidisciplinary postgraduate qualification in Women's Studies. My particular area of academic interest was working with women with mental health concerns, and the use of creativity and group work as a way to maintain good mental health.

I have since worked extensively with clients who have a diagnosis of ADHD, who feel they might have ADHD, or who are awaiting a diagnosis of ADHD. I am able to discuss options in relation to the managemnet of the condition and am able to refer to a Consultant Psychiatrist for assessment if necessary. I have an understanding of ADHD medication which I neither advocate or advise against the use of, if prescribed. I believe that is a decision purely for the individual client to make.

I  have many years experience of working within a national mental health setting, and in private practice, particularly with clients from the LGBTQ+ community.

As an openly gay woman with a child born through AI with an unknown donor (23 years ago), I have first hand experience of parenting, and the various issues that has bought up for us individually, and as a family. My daughter is now a successful adult and we have negotiated many and varied issues that she has encountered, and continues to encounter regarding having lesbian parents. (For example around her own identity, intra/interpersonal relationships and self disclosure).

My previous career was as a Metropolitan police officer. I have an understanding of issues within the criminal justice system relating to gender and sexuality, mental health and neurodiverse conditions. I am currently studying Forensic and Criminal Psychology with a view to combining my law background with my current role as a psychotherapist.
