About me

Embarking on a therapeutic journey, with me, creates time and space just for you to be seen and heard while exploring what life is presenting you with. Being seen and heard can evoke a sense of liberation and relief, it can also feel daunting. With this in mind, you’ll be met within a confidential, non-judgmental, empathic setting.

I welcome clients along the wide spectrum of cultural, gender, sexuality and relational expressions. I work with clients who identify as queer, lesbian, heterosexual, gay, bisexual, asexual, questioning and unsure, pansexual, omnisexual and celibate, men who have sex with men, women who have sex with women, among others. I work with individuals who prefer not to use labels to define their multiple identities. Your sexuality may not present as the primary reason to come to my practice and I recognise your autonomy for it not to be a focus, though it may be worthy of consideration.I welcome those whose legally consensual relationships may be monogamous, casual, non-monogamous, open and polyamorous, irrespective of sexual orientation. I welcome clients on the gender variant spectrum: trans women, trans men, non binary gender people, cross dressers, transvestites, genderqueer, androgynes, those who identify as intersex, alongside those living with variations in sexual development.

A Wounded Healer
I approach my work as a wounded healer, committed to attending to the whispers of you soul's cries.I sit and stand alongside you for the duration of our therapeutic journey as we explore your light, shadow, and all of the shades of grey and colours between.

Time and space for you
You may be suffering from anxiety, relationship & family issues, affairs, betrayals, separation & divorce, depression, sadness, addictions, bereavement, panic, abuse, trauma and child related issues. Get in touch if you feel lost, stuck, caught in a pattern, at a crossroad or in crisis. You may be exhausted from holding secrets and shame and want to find courage to speak your truths by reclaiming your own voice. Your body may be expressing itself in ways that you’re not yet able to process. You may not be able to identify causes of your suffering, which can feel mystifying and unsettling. Your usual ways of coping might feel redundant. You may feel conflicted with cultural, religious, familial and societal expectations. It takes courage to make contact; you’ll be received with empathy and sensitivity when you do.

Working together
Our sessions would be held once a week, at an agreed time. More than one session a week can be arranged, if we agree this would be appropriate for you. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. At our first session, you may be invited to share what is concerning you and address questions that you might have in relation to working with me. This session will provide us both with an opportunity to explore whether we would like to continue working together. The length of time that we choose to work together will be agreed between us and may be open-ended.

Experience and approach

Specific experience and training:

I hold an Integrative Transpersonal Counselling diploma from Re-Vision, which is a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited training. I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework. In line with BACP’s framework, I regularly discuss my work with an experienced supervisor. I am working towards the completion of an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapy. I have worked with clients at the Terrence Higgins Trust, Re-Vision’s Low Cost Counselling Centre and volunteered with the Samaritans. I hold a Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and an Honours Degree in Law.

I assume the existence of soul in my approach, which includes the subtlety of giving attention to hunches, dreams, intuitions, creativity, longings and yearnings. I may invite you to consider the potential meaning in your challenges, wounding and suffering as soul cries, calling for attention, rather than offering quick fix solutions.

In partnership, we may attend to your early years, what is presenting in the here and now, your relationship to the natural world, alongside your yearnings and callings. Life’s big questions, uncertainty, joys, everyday humdrums and sorrows may be explored. Healing potential may be experienced through the attention given to the nature of our therapeutic relationship and the insights and dynamics that are evoked within it.

Therapies Practiced:
Counselling, Psychotherapy.
Specialisms and interests:

Experiences of racism, colourism/shadism, sexism, ageism, and discrimination around disability, classism, xenophobia, transphobia, biphobia, homophobia or other oppressions can be wounding, traumatic and present as aspects of your journey that need attention.

I recognise the challenge of unapologetically embracing, and reclaiming parts of identity that you might have had to be silent about, feared, felt ashamed of and disowned, alongside celebrating aspects of identity that you are proud of or might not give attention to. Perhaps your soul whispers your move beyond the margins of your life to explore living at its centre, with a more self-assured, grounded, powerful self that aligns with your core values and honours the various identities (which may not be fixed) of who you may be.

Theoretical approach:
Integrative, Intercultural/Transcultural, Transpersonal.
