About me

What I Offer

I am very passionate about working with clients who may be lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer or questioning and offer safe and open-minded counselling to enable you to express who you are or want to be without fear of prejudice or judgement.

I use a Humanistic approach to counselling, which is less technique-based than other approaches and gives you the freedom to make choices and set your own goals. You are free to explore any aspect of your life experience – past, present and future – rather than focusing on just one specific problem or issue.

I see clients online which is very popular and offers the advantage of having sessions from the comfort of your own home which saves you time and money. Having studied a specialist advanced course in online therapy I understand the importance of taking your safety and security online seriously and only use secure platforms to meet, I never use SKYPE.

"Chloe is a terrific listener and helped to guide me towards constructive reflection and my ability to resolve my own issues."

"Through Chloe's support I was often able to find answers myself that not only have helped me as a person who identifies as Trans/Queer, but also in my life as general. I have taken so many positive steps over the past 6 months that I thought I would never take, and I know sessions with Chloe played a key part in taking those steps."

"I highly recommend Chloe’s ability- she established a sense of trust and safety"

"I identify as trans/questioning/gender queer. After many years of confusion and denial about who I was I had only recently started being honest with myself about my situation and also had only just started coming out to family and friends at the beginning of this year. At the start of my sessions I was still unsure about where I fitted in as a person. Sessions with Chloe helped give me the space and time to focus more clearly on my situation and issues I needed to address."

Experience and approach

Specific experience and training:

My Background and Experience
I have particular expertise in working with issues around gender identity, sexual orientation and mental health. My passion for working with lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer (LGBTQ) people began when I ran the Time to Change LGBTQ mental health stigma campaign for MindOut. This led to my work as a Youth Worker with Allsorts Youth Project and then as a Counsellor with Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard. Through these experiences I recognised the need for LGBTQ counselling and set up Sussex Rainbow Counselling.
Although Gender and Sexual Diversity may be part of who you are, many people choose to come to me for counselling to talk about other issues not directly linked to their identity. I have experience working with many issues including abuse, anger, anxiety, bereavement, body image, bullying, depression, relationships, self-esteem, self-harm, sex and intimacy, stress, suicidal thoughts, trauma and work issues.
I also have additional experience working in mental health through my work as a Community Mental Health Advocate for Mind in Brighton & Hove and as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor for University of Brighton students.
My Qualifications
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Humanistic Counsellor with a postgraduate BACP accredited diploma from Brighton University.
I have also undertaken professional training to offer counselling online and have been awarded a distinction for the Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Online (ACTO) approved course I studied with the Academy for Counselling and Psychotherapy Online.
My Registering Bodies
I am an approved accredited registrant of the National Counselling Society.
I am also a professional member of the Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Online (ACTO).
Therapies Practiced:
Counselling, Psychotherapy.
Specialisms and interests:

In my practice I use the theory of Gender and Sexual Diversity (GSD) Counselling, which is recognised as a more modern and broader approach than traditional LGBT Affirmative Counselling. I feel this approach more openly accepts numerous identities and practices. Rather than affirming a label or encouraging "coming out", GSD counselling explores who you are and how you want to live your life and who you want to know about your gender and sexual feelings. This can sometimes include labels but is not restricted to this.
