I provide counselling for individuals and couples over the age of 18 on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. I work with people of any gender or sexual identity. Counselling is a life-changing experience which allows the client ultimately to regain control, or gain acceptance, over the life issues which brought them to therapy, thereby leading to a better quality of life. Counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are usually scheduled on a weekly basis, although this is negotiable depending upon the client’s need. Each session costs £50 - £65 for individuals dependant upon location. Couples charge is £60 - £85 per session.

About me

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and  I am also a General Member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and working toward accreditation.  I successfully completed the London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy  and have taken additional training to work with gender and sexual diversity. As an integrative counsellor I draw on my awareness of the various theoretical approaches and schools of psychotherapy  to tailor the therapy to suit the individual client’s needs. The relationship between the client and me, as the therapist, is an essential part of the therapy and I believe that this is achieved by providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space within which to work.

The everyday difficulties of living in a complex, modern society can be hard enough for anyone but being transgendered can intensify those problems; nevertheless, the transgendered, like everyone else, have to deal with all the common issues that confront young people and adults alike. If you feel that it might be better, or easier, to talk with someone who can empathise closely with your own gender identity issues, then you may find that I can offer the support you need, whether specifically in that area, or in dealing with other, non-gender-related issues.

Perhaps you are the partner, family member or friend of someone who has advised of the difficulties they may be facing when they 'come out' as being  transgendered; it can be as traumatic for you in these circumstances as it is for them. There are support groups but perhaps some individual counselling could be of benefit to help you understand your own feelings and emotions when confronted with a situation like this.

In addition to working from my home near Luton I  provide counselling from two other locations : Local Counselling Centre in Letchworth and Woodbridge Therapy in St Albans.
