Experience and approach

Specific experience and training:

My education and training started in the United States and now contniues to expand through continuing education programs. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Expressive Therapy, integrating psychology and counselling theories with the creative arts. My Master’s Degree is in Community Counselling. I take professional development courses on an ongoing basis. I have trained in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and most currently I am taking a course in Couples Counselling at the Tavistock Relationships Center in Central London. I have worked in mental health in the US since 2004, providing therapy in English and Spanish. While receiving my Master’s degree in community counselling, I worked as an educator and outreach worker for an HIV/AIDS clinic in New Mexico, where I became an advocate for those affected by HIV/AIDS. I then worked with adults, families, and children at  a domestic violence shelter with both perpetrators and survivors of DV. Starting in 2007, I worked in Texas where I counselled families, couples, and individuals at a community health clinic helping families improve their mental health and unhealthy relationships. In 2011 I started my private practice seeing mostly individuals for adjustment issues like work stress, anxiety and grief. I contracted independently with companies as providing presentations at company meetings or critical incident events providing on-demand counselling. My most recent work includes counselling and consultant services within military communities in Asia and Europe.
