Why choose Pink Therapy?

Affirming, evidence-led therapy for LGBTQ+ and GSRD communities.

Therapy that understands identity as part of your experience, not a problem to fix

Choosing a therapist is a personal decision. What matters most is finding someone you feel safe with, who understands and respects you, and with whom you can build a trusting and safely challenging therapeutic relationship. Consistently, the relationship between therapist and client is considered one of the most influential factors in therapy outcomes.

For many LGBTQ+ and GSRD people, finding the right therapist can be harder than it should be. Research consistently shows that LGBTQ+ communities are more likely to access mental health support services, yet often report greater barriers to care, lower satisfaction with therapy and poorer outcomes within mainstream, non-specialist services. Research within NHS mental health services found that 67% of LGBTQ+ respondents felt their sexuality was relevant to their psychological difficulties, but had not been sufficiently considered in therapy.

For 27 years, Pink Therapy has been the home of inclusive therapy. We have worked to improve access to knowledgeable, evidence-led and affirmative mental healthcare for LGBTQ+ communities and people who experience gender, sex and relationship diversity.

With a therapist from our directory, you can be sure to be seen, respected and affirmed, working with a therapist who understands that your identity is part of your experience but not a cause to be fixed, judged or shamed. For practical tips on finding the right fit, see our guide to choosing your therapist.
